HOW TO CLEAN A BBQ THAT HASN'T BEEN USED IN A WHILE

If you’re planning on using your BBQ but haven’t used it in a while, you probably need to give it a clean.

Equipment
Gloves
BBQ Scraper
Bucket
Sponge
Soft Cloth
Soft brush
Dishwashing liquid
BBQ Wipes
Canola Oil
Paper towel
BBQ Cover
Fat Absorbent

Method
1. Disconnect the gas hose from the barbecue
2. Clean away any excess food by scrapping off the residue with a BBQ scraper. Remove the BBQ plates and grills and clean the surface with hot soapy water. Use a scourer, grill brush or grill stone to scrub any excess food and marinades. Rinse with hot water and dry completely.
3. Check burners for insects. Use a narrow brush to remove - do not use pesticides as they are toxic when heated
4. Remove drip tray, scrap out any residue and clean with warm soapy water. Dry completely before replacing with fresh fat absorbent.
5. Clean the exterior of the BBQ with BBQ Wipes or warm soapy water.
6. Reconnect the gas hose and heat the BBQ for 5 minutes before cooking. This will kill any bacteria that may be on the cooking surfaces.
